Freight forwarding and logistics operator Rhenus UK has appointed Chris Blissitt as its operations manager.
As part of the company’s ongoing expansion, Blissitt has been promoted from his previous role as export operator at Rhenus’ Bradford facility. He will now work at Rhenus’ headquarters in Manchester, managing a team of eight full-time import and export operators who are focused on developing Rhenus’ business in the UK’s northwestern region. A spokesperson confirmed that Blissitt will be working with two major German OEMs.
Blissitt said: “I am thrilled to take up the position of operations manager. Working at the Bradford site has allowed me to focus on export and the regulations it entails which has prepared me well for my new position. I am looking forward to working more closely with the team at Manchester and can see there is huge scope for even further growth across Rhenus’ import and export portfolio in the northwest.”
In his previous role, Blissitt specialised in export from the UK to Ireland, Portugal, Spain, Italy, and Austria, along with managing bookings, delivery chain, and costings.
Prior to his positions with Rhenus, Blissitt worked as a freight forwarder at John Sutcliffe International, department supervisor and operations manager at Redhead International, and as a freight forwarder at Hauser Logistics, which was bought out by Rhenus in 2006 by current director Gary Dodsworth.
David Williams, managing director at Rhenus, said: “I am pleased to announce Chris’ position as operations manager. His wealth of knowledge and experience in freight forwarding and supply chain management will be a great asset to the import and export team in Manchester as he looks to increase the number of routes to and from the northwest.”
