DB Schenker USA has appointed Robert Walpole (left) to the position of CEO at its Schenker division in the country. Walpole moves from his role as senior vice-president, global logistics development, and will oversee both the contract logistics and the transport businesses.
“Robert has a proven track record in leading teams to achieve profitable growth, and is a strong leader with the ability to create and execute a business vision,” said Philippe Gilbert, regional CEO, DB Schenker Americas. “His expertise, deep relationships and business understanding in the global supply chain operations of Fortune 100 companies around the world will be invaluable in this new role.”
Walpole previously worked for Bax Global as vice-president of logistics in the Asia-Pacific region but became part of DB Schenker when the German company took over the Bax business in 2007. It was finally rebranded as DB Schenker in 2009. Prior to that he spent ten years across supply chain development and manufacturing management at ExxonMobil.
“As in many sectors, the USA is one of the most mature markets in our industry, and DB Schenker has big ambition to grow in both scale and scope of services we offer,” said Walpole. “I’m greatly looking forward to the opportunity to lead the company towards achieving those objectives.”
