Maruti Suzuki India has appointed RS Kalsi as head of domestic marketing and sales, replacing Mayank Pareek, senior executive officer for marketing and sales, who has left the company. Mr Kalsi was most recently executive director with responsibility for parts, accessories and outbound logistics at the company.
Shashank Srivastava, executive director, will continue to head international marketing for the company.
Kalsi began his career at Maruti in 1984 as an engineer on the shop floor and has since worked in a number of roles at the company, including vendor development, supply chain, parts inspection, engineering and finance.
“Having worked in close partnership with the company’s domestic dealer network, Kalsi has a sound understanding of customer needs and preferences,” said Kenichi Ayukawa, managing director and CEO, Maruti Suzuki India. “With Kalsi heading our domestic marketing and sales efforts, and Shashank spearheading our international operations, we will be in a very good position to strengthen our bond with customers as we move towards our medium term goal of 2m annual vehicles sales.”
Maruti has yet to confirm who will replace Kalsi as head of its outbound and spare parts logistics.
Kalsi was a front cover interview for Finished Vehicle Logistics in October 2011, when he discussed ambitions to improve driver conditions, increase rail transport and introduce hub-and-spoke vehicle distribution. Read the whole article here.
