Copenhagen, Denmark-based supply chain management company Scan Global Logistics is acquiring 100% of German niche automotive logistics provider, International Quality Service Group (IQS).
Founded in 1998, IQS specialises in delivering cars by air or sea to exhibitions and testing events worldwide. Its services include infrastructural support for operation of testing projects in remote areas.
Describing Germany as probably the world’s number one country in terms of high-end car manufacturers, Scan Global’s CEO, Allan Melgaard, said: “Obviously, the know-how obtained via IQS Group is very attractive and [will] enable us to create synergies with our existing markets in China and the US. We believe our automotive clients will experience major benefits from the expertise and insights pertaining to high-end automotive market demands that we gain via IQS Group.”
The purchase extends Scan Global’s activities within the automotive industry and, it claims, will allow it to take a leading role in Germany. “This acquisition is a natural strategic step forward in the ongoing growth and development of Scan Global Logistics internationally,” said Melgaard.
IQS has six offices in Germany, as well as others in the US and Dubai, and will continue to operate under its own brand within Scan Global’s ownership. The transaction is expected to be finalised by January 1.
