Toyota has announced its logistics US partners awards for performance in 2008 with NYK Line taking four of 17 plaudits.
The 2009 Toyota Logistics Partner’s Dinner Awards also recognised rail operator Norfolk Southern Corporation with three honours out of four for rail activity.
In the President’s Award category NYK Line took two awards for Import and Export Marine, while Norfolk Southern took the Rail award. Norfolk Southern has received the President’s Award six times since the programme began in 1996.
The fourth President’s Award went to Centurion Auto Logistics for Highway Transportation.
NYK Line also took two Excellence Awards for Customer Service, again in Import and Export Marine. Union Pacific Railroad took one for Rail, while Active Transportation Company took the award for excellent customer service for Highway Transportation.
Norfolk Southern received an On-Time Excellence Award and an Excellence Award for Quality. The company transported 552,000 Toyota vehicles in 2008, including those originating from Norfolk Southern-served plants in Georgetown, Kentucky, and Lafayette and Princeton in Indiana. Georgetown produces the Camry, Avalon, Solara, and Venza. Lafayette produces the Camry, and Princeton produces the Sienna minivan and Sequoia SUV. It will also begin producing the Highlander crossover utility vehicle in 2009.
"These business partners have earned this highest level of acheivement through their commitment and hard work, particularly during these difficult times in the automotive industry," a Toyota Logistics Service's spokesperson told Automotive Logistics. "Some of the recipients have recieved the awards for many years, demonstrating their long-term dedication to customer loyalty."
