Supply chain and logistics provider UTi has opened a new contract logistics facility in Mexico to support the growth of its clients in the automotive and high-tech industries.
The 2,500 sq.m facility is located in Irapuato in the north central region, which has become a hub of activity for automotive and high tech sectors. Honda has a facility in nearby Celaya and Toyota has also announced it is building a plant there.
UTi’s centre there will have a handling capacity of 2,800 pallets and provide services, including inventory management, sub-assembly and kitting, as well as developing other services, such as ship-to-line models, upon request.
“UTi Irapuato is designed to deliver the quality and efficiency that draws great companies here in the first place, and our team has the passion and expertise to deliver on that commitment," said Reyvid Villegas, UTi director of operations, Mexico.
The company said that it handled goods for movement in and out of Mexico, as well as storage and distribution within Mexico, and provided logistical support for both inbound manufacturing operations and finished product fulfillment.
UTi now operates 13 contract logistics facilities in Mexico totalling 70,000 sq.m of dedicated and multi-client warehousing space.
