Yusen Logistics has been trialling the use of vibration control pallets in conventional trucks as an alternative to the use of trucks with air suspension, which are used in preference for the delivery of sensitive freight but which are more expensive to run and can be limited in availability.
The company said the new pallets can successfully protect freight from vibrations and sudden impacts during transport regardless of road conditions.
It expects demand for the pallets to grow in China and for cross border movements in South East Asia and has been conducting trials of the technology between Shanghai and Hefei in China since the beginning of the year.
Yusen said it is now able to verify that vibration-control pallets used in tandem with everyday trucks provides a viable alternative solution to air-suspension trucks. The company also stated that it was preparing its sales network accordingly.
