Yusen Logistics, NYK’s contract logistics and air/ocean freight forwarding subsidiary, is opening a crossdock for the automotive sector in the Czech Republic at the beginning of August.
Sited just outside the capital Prague at Strancice on the D1 highway to Slovakia and Hungary, the 20,000-square-metre facility will have 8,000 square metres dedictated to the automotive sector. It will support customers including Renault-Nissan, Ford and Bentley, the company has confirmed. The facility will receive parts from around 300 suppliers based in the Czech Republic and Poland.
“Thanks to the new location and purpose built site, we will be able to offer customers more options for their supply chain management needs,” said Michael Peter, managing director of Yusen Logistics (Czech).
The facility includes 30 loading bays, four drive-in access routes and uses RFID technology to track stock. Customer services will be centrally organised from the site to consolidate supply chain operations. It will also support customers in the retail sector.
